Ford AIS install and fender mod.
The Ford AIS came with ok instructions. Use them. Here are my pics of the install.
Click once on a photo, and it will open in anouth screen in larger detail.
Remove old unit and battery
OLD Battery cover
Remove these bolts. Save them for later.
I decided to do the fender mod. After placing AIS in location, and also placing the fender seal, I marked the area to cut.
I cut less, and smothed out as needed. Hard to replace cut plastic if gone to far. Some use a 3" hole bit. I used a 2 1/2". Some make one hole to be safe, I matched the seal. Either way....Carefull!
While your here, check out your turbo tube. That's the Ford CCV. Yep, time to clean, and do the CCV Mod.
DONE!
Install the four bolt clip that came with the AIS.
Install AIS Battery tray & fender foam. Use old removed bolts. Same locations as removed.
Install new AIS. Just start the bolts that came with the kit. This is so you can adjust the fender foam.
Don't over tighten the rubber washers. Once in, the foam will be held in place by the AIS.
Back in with the rest.
Don't forget other conections like sensors.
Don't for get the battery cables. Install filter and cover.
Note: I replaced the filter minder that came with the AIS with the old good unit. I heard the Sever Duty AIS minder was very picky.
